Try the Cute Devil Costume this Halloween

Instead of scaring your fellow trick or treaters this Halloween, try wearing a cute devil costume. The Devil has appeared in many humorous and comical ways in movies, books and even in the comic books. A cute devil costume can replace the traditional portrayal of Satan as evil and terrifying.

In the cartoon, “Donald’s Better Self”, from 1938, schoolboy Donald Duck is torn between his good side and bad side when the devil tempt him to start smoking. Donald soon regrets giving in to the devil’s tricks when smoking turns him green and makes him sick. He quickly learns his lesson and sends the devil packing.

In the comic strip “Dilbert”, the devil appears as the character, Phil the Prince of Insufficient Light, who punishes people for such misdeeds as using copier paper for the printer, stealing a chair from another cubicle or finishing the last of the coffee from the coffee maker without topping it off. Phil doles out punishment for these terrible crimes by making the offender sit with the accountants at lunchtime and listen to their tedious and boring conversations.

“Hot Stuff-The Little Devil” is a comic book character from 1957, who appeared in “Hot Stuff # 1”, published by Harvey Comics. Hot Stuff is a vermillion red child devil with a mischievous personality and the ability to produce fire. He wears asbestos baby diapers and carried a carries a magical pitchfork. He’s not all bad though and sometimes performs good deeds in his cute devil costume just to irritate his fellow demons.

The cartoon series, “Futurama”, had an episode titled, “The Devil’s Hands are Idle Playthings”, in witch Satan is The Robot Devil, who lives underneath the “Inferno” roller coaster ride at “Reckless Ted’s Funland” amusement park inNew Jersey. There he torments other robots who have committed various sins under the laws of Robotology.

In an episode of “The Simpsons” titled, “The Devil Flanders”, Ned Flanders, the Simpsons very religious next-door neighbor, appears to Homer as the Devil. It seems Homer runs out of donuts and laments that he would sell his soul for a donut. Much to Homer’s shock, Ned appears and states, “It’s always the one you least suspect!”, but Homer is saved, temporarily, when he thinks he fooled Ned by not finishing the donut.

The Devil as appeared in comic books such as “Spawn” and “Silver Surfer”, “Sandman”, “X-Men” and “Swamp Thing”. A horror movie loosely based on “Swamp Thing” was made in 2008 called “Swamp Devil” which turned out to be unintentionally funny instead of scary, although there was not a cute devil costume in this film.

The Princess Devil Child Costume is a red dress with gold trim, attached waist ties and tulle petticoat. It also includes a headband with padded horns.

The Dazzling Devil Light-Up Child/Tween Costume is a Halloween classic with a multi-layered skirt that sparkles with red lights. It includes a shiny red devil horn headband and a pitchfork.
